Morgan Burburan

Morgan Burburan is a the Director of Upper and Middle Division Choirs at Berkeley Preparatory School in Tampa, FL. She is Doctoral Candidate at the University of South Florida. In 2018-2019 she served as the Interim Director of Choral Studies conducting the choirs, teaching Music Education courses & supervising interns. She also served in that time as the Assistant Director of the Master Chorale of Tampa Bay. Morgan has a Masters in Music Education from Florida State University and a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of South Florida. She is in her 14th year of teaching and has taught at all grade levels from elementary school through the university level, along with community choirs. Morgan regularly adjudicates and serves as a clinician throughout the state of Florida and facilitates in-services and workshops for Professional Development. A former Teacher of the Year for Weeki Wachee High School, Morgan’s choirs have performed at both Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Performing Arts Center, in addition to conducting Superior-rated performances at both State and District MPA every year of her tenure since its inaugural year. Morgan has twice received the Outstanding Merit Award in Music Education from USF, once as a PhD Candidate in 2018 and also as an undergraduate in 2007. In 2015 she was named an Emerging Leader by the Florida Music Educators Association, and was the 2010 USF Clarion Society Music Educator of the Year. She was a 2012 participant of the FMEA Summer Institute. Morgan is an active performer and researcher, with her research interests in vocal health as it relates to choral singing in multiple genres, vocal pedagogy, pre-service music educator curriculum development, arts advocacy, cognitive neuroscience, and student leadership.  Morgan currently serves as the Advocacy Chair for the Florida American Choral Directors Association, and has served with the Florida Music Educators Association State Board as the Student Leadership Chair and the Florida Vocal Association as District Chair. She is a member of NAfME, ACDA, FMEA, FVA, NATS, and The Voice Foundation.
